Jack of All Trades - Writing Freak Out - Part Three?

I've been away from this blog for awhile now.  My interest in all things Sherlock has waned lately.  That happens to me with things.  I get very interested in something, am obsessed for awhile, and then the interest evens out, or I become fixated on something else.  I admit, part of it this time was that I read a one star, especially bad review of my second book on Amazon.com.  In thinking about it later, I'm not sure the reviewer even read my book.  I can't help thinking all they did was see the chapter titles and look at the blurb, and make his conclusions based on that.  Because I did put a lot less of the musical and more aspects of the actual novel in it.

Anyway.  That gave me something of writer's block for awhile.  But I'm back and working on Jack of All Trades.  It's so frustrating right now!  Just getting all the facts straight, trying to work with the characters' personalities, not to mention all the other things I've doing right now...

Well, I know this is a short entry, but I'll come back later and write more.  :)

  1. Great to hear you're back writing! Don't let Amazon reviews bother you! I know when I read the one-stars, the reviewer almost always has some expectation that the book was never meant to satisfy. Or they're goofy. Or both. :)

It's funny you should mention the whole obsessive interest thing. My husband and I both operate that way (as does at least one of our children). Sometimes I wonder if one day, I'll pass out of my "Sherlock Holmes" phase--but I hope it won't happen. It's been the only obsession I've ever had that allowed me to connect with others, and geek out collectively. I don't think I've ever had so much fun in my adult life.

    Have a great week!!

  2. Glad to hear from you! I completely know what you mean about obsessions. I've had that problem too, lately, and it makes me feel bad when I start writing fan fiction that people get interested in (for some reason) and I end up leaving them hanging. It's one of those things I don't know how to get over yet, except just get back in the mood by chance. But I do swing back now and then, thankfully.

I'm happy you're making progress on your next book. I continue to wish you good luck with it. Can't wait to see the final result!
